My name is BJ and BJ's Haven is the name of my web site.

I have always loved art and have taken several classes, plus made many trips to art museums viewing the fabulous art work of the ‘Old Masters’.   I love painting in water colors, acrylics, and sometimes oil paints.  I’ve also done clay sculptures.  I always wanted to take a class in stone sculpture but never did.

When I discovered all the wonderful graphic programs out there, I started experimenting with them and now I find that it takes up most of my time.  There are so many nice programs but I have not found one that does everything I want it to so all of my art work is being done using a combination of the different programs and filters.

I've been working with computers for years now, can't stay away from them.  I spend time just practicing new techniques to make my art work better.  I know I have a lot to learn and I don’t mind constructive criticism from others to achieve better art work.

I am married and have two sons and am very happy.  My husband is my 'Best Friend' and is a great supporter of me and of my art work.

I love gardening, arts and crafts, music and am a big nature lover.

Much of my time is involved in digital art designing now.   I try to help people with their questions with different programs and have written a few tutorials in order to be helpful.   I’ve also been a tester for several people who produce Poser 4 products which I enjoyed doing.

I love to just play and create and see what comes out of each piece.  Most of my art work is made up of feminine little girls and ladies.  I love fantasy art work and sculptures the most.   My art work reflects my love of pastels, softness and a delicate mood.  But sometimes I like working with darker colors and deep shadows.  However, most of the time it is the softer touch.   Sometimes I am in bed at night and get ideas for a new piece and in the morning start creating it.

One 'tip' I have is plan something out ahead of time.  Don’t rush through a piece of art work just to get it done.  Spend more time on it.  When I create something, I work on it for awhile and save it in layers.  Then later I go back and see if there is something to change, delete or add.  After I am pleased at what I created, I merge the layers and save it as a different file name.  This way, if I miss something, it is easy to go back and change things in the layered file later.

Also, create art work that you like.  Do not try to copy what others do.  Be creative and follow your own style and not someone else’s.  It’s fine to get tips and helpful hints from others, but follow your own thoughts and dreams of creating and you will do fine.  Don’t try to please everyone by your art work because not everyone will like it.  The most important thing is to relax and have fun, but have it be your own individual style not others.
